The Emergency Officer/Coordinator training course is a two-part course designed around the Australian Standard 4083-2010, to provide healthcare facilities competency-based training.
Emergency Officer Training
Duration: 2.5 hours
This training session for Emergency Officers consists of both theoretical and practical components. Topics covered include:
- Structure of ECO
- Types of emergencies
- Types of fire protection equipment
- Fire/ smoke spread (video presentation)
- Emergency evacuations procedures – Duties of ECO
- Use of portable fire equipment
- Desktop evacuation exercise
Emergency Coordinator Training
Duration: 1 hour
The Emergency Officer Training session is a prerequisite to this course. This session covers the practical use of Emergency Communication systems and the duties and responsibilities of the Emergency Coordinator and Deputy Emergency Coordinator. This session will focus on the operations of an ECO and how to coordinate actions to safeguard endangered persons.
