Job Summary

Wormald is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Trades Assistant/Fire Extinguisher Service Technician to join our dynamic team based at Olympic Dam on a FIFO or DIDO basis, working on a ‘9 On, 5 Off’ basis. This role is designed for an individual with a suitable Trades background to work on a range of Fire Protection Equipment.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Trades Assistant/Fire Extinguisher Service Technician to join our mining team on a FIFO or a DIDO/residential basis, working on a ‘9 On, 5 Off’ roster. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, ensuring the safety and compliance of critical fire protection equipment. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Installation, testing, maintenance and repair of fire protection equipment including, but not limited to, portable fire extinguishers, fire blankets, hose reels, hydrants and fire suppression systems.
  • Maintain Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) responsibilities, ensuring full compliance with company/site policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all work aligns with contractual requirements and industry standards and is serviced to the highest standards.
  • Complete service activities to guarantee timely and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Maintain effective communication with client representatives and stakeholders to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Proactively identify and resolve site issues, implementing solutions and improvements to enhance overall operations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in fire protection or a related Trades background.
  • Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing or willingness to undertake this training.
  • Proven capability to complete tasks while managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong understanding and commitment of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) responsibilities and compliance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address and resolve issues effectively.
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence – Manual Vehicle.
