The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fire Alarm Technician/Electrician (fire detection and fire protection systems) to join our dynamic team based across various mining sites in Olympic Dam, Carrapateena and Prominent Hill. This is a FIFO role, working on a ‘8 On, 6 Off’ or ‘9 On, 5 Off roster, depending on operational requirements. This full-time role is designed for an individual with a suitable Electrical Trades background, with experience in the fire industry or willingness to undertake further training to develop these skills. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, ensuring the safety and compliance of critical fire protection systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation, maintenance, testing and fault-finding on fire detection and fire protection systems across surface and underground infrastructure including, but not limited to, fire alarm detection systems, gas suppression systems and emergency warning systems.
- Interface testing between fire systems and other site systems (PLC, BMS, shutdown systems).
- Maintain Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) responsibilities, ensuring full compliance with company/site policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all work aligns with contractual requirements and industry standards and is serviced to the highest standards.
- Complete service activities to guarantee timely and efficient completion of tasks.
- Maintain effective communication with client representatives and stakeholders to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Proactively identify and resolve site issues, implementing solutions and improvements to enhance overall operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Hold a current A-Class Electrical Licence (South Australia or interstate equivalent for SA Licensing).
- Ability to work autonomously and manage site-based work activities.
- Proven capability to complete tasks while managing competing priorities.
- Strong understanding and commitment of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) responsibilities and compliance.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address and resolve issues effectively.
Preferred Requirements, but not essential:
- Demonstrated experience working with fire detection and fire protection systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability on fire systems.
- Experience working in industrial or mining environments is highly desirable.
- Fire panel programming and configuration experience (Vigilant, Notifier or similar) is highly desirable.
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence – Manual Vehicle.
- Have obtained or would be willing to obtain the following tickets:
- White Card, Working at Heights, EWP, Confined Space
