The Fire Protection Industry Awards on May 12, 2021 will recognise this year’s outstanding achievements. Wormald returns as sponsor of the Barry Lee Technical Excellence Award.

The Barry Lee Training Room was officially opened on April 30, 2021 at the NSW Emergency Services in Orchard Hills. Named in honour of Barry Lee OAM, the training facility will become the home to train fire protection practitioners and firefighters.

Not only do they need to consider the safety regulations in each state and territory, but they also need to ensure the equipment and systems are regularly inspected and maintained so they perform as intended in the event of a fire emergency.

Helen migrated from New Zealand to Australia in 2004 following a career in forestry. She began her career at Wormald working in an administration role based in Albury, NSW which gave her a head start in the field. Today she is thriving as Wormald’s Service Operations Supervisor.

International Women’s Day on March 8 is a time to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness against gender bias and equality. On the eve of International Women’s Day, we spoke to Wormald’s longest serving female technician, and two team members who have returned to Wormald after a period of maternity leave.

Wormald has been working closely with facility managers in the aged care sector to ensure they comply with strict protocols while they continue to maintain essential services for fire protection systems.

Celebrating her 20th year at Wormald, Human Resources Director, Frances Hughes, has had a rewarding career describing her journey so far as like “being blind folded and put on a roller coaster”!

February 2021 marks a significant milestone for Wormald. It was five years ago in 2016, that Wormald announced it was being taken private and returning to local management after a period of ownership under global fire and security company Tyco (now known as Johnson Controls).
