FIRE EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN
The Role
Responsible for servicing, inspecting, repairing, and installing portable fire equipment, while also promoting product sales and ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and safety procedures.
Specific Accountabilities
- Inspection and testing of portable fire equipment (fire extinguishers, fire blankets, fire hose reels, fire hydrants, lay flat hoses)
- Installation of portable fire equipment
- Inspection and testing of fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire doors, exit and emergency lighting, passive fire systems
- Working with clients to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
- Understanding of relevant Australian Standards
Qualifications
- No formal qualifications required
- Employer may sponsor a Cert II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing
- Current driver license is required
SPRINKLER FITTER
The Role
Performs testing, maintenance, and installation of fire sprinkler systems, hydrants, and pumps. The Sprinkler Fitter is the main point of call for all wet fire systems and is dispatched to diagnose issues and provide repairs to keep client sites operational.
Specific Accountabilities
- Inspection and testing, repairs, maintenance and installation of sprinkler systems, fire hydrants and fire pumps
- Work on construction sites (new build and fit-out works) and a range of operational client sites
- Fault finding, diagnosis and technical reports on issues identified with client equipment
- Attending emergency callouts to rectify issues with equipment
- Understanding of relevant Australian Standards
Qualifications
- Trade Qualified Sprinkler Fitter – Cert III in Fire Protection (Apprenticeship)
- Current driver license is required once qualified
FIRE SYSTEM DESIGN ENGINEER
The Role
Ensuring buildings are safe and compliant by designing fire protection systems for new buildings and upgrades of existing systems.
Specific Accountabilities
- Producing layouts of fire protection systems including sprinklers, hydrant fire detection and special hazard systems
- Performing hydraulic and extinguishing agent calculations
- Coordination with other building services, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical etc
- Applying the National Construction Code and Australian Standards
- Detailing systems for fabrication and installation
- Exposure to product selection and development for the inducation of new products
Qualifications
Candidates will have or be working towards any of the following:
- Diploma in Fire System Design
- Bachelor of Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering
